Wayne Gardner Reserve is a newly constructed single sportsfield and amenities precinct located within the new suburb of Oran Park Town, located in Sydney’s South-West. This sporting complex includes a single playing surface for rugby league, rugby union and/or soccer, with lighting to facilitate activities for extended periods. The field surface has sand slit drainage installed to capture surface water for re-use by the fully automated irrigation system, underpinned by a 200,000 litre underground water tank. Surrounding the field is a cycling track that links four separate outdoor exercise areas providing training and fitness facilities for the local sports teams and community members alike. A children’s playground and shade structures has also been installed near the club house building in addition to a steel and timber viewing deck constructed to overlook a small wetland area designed to manage stormwater flows throughout the recreational complex.
