Gungahlin College, CIT and Town Park have been built to service the rapidly expanding northern fringe of Canberra. Located adjacent to the Gungahlin Town Centre, the Town Park features both a performance stage and large grassed amphitheatre bordered by custom timber and off-form concrete seating, which together serve as the main entrance to the College and CIT. It is within this coloured concrete entrance boulevard that the Alexander Bunyip Installation resides, a much loved landmark for the local children. Throughout the college a series of unit paver and concrete paths link outdoor learning areas and surrounding garden and open turf spaces, with further educational opportunities being incorporated into the built form through a retention pond accessed via rock berms and bio-swales.
